Review for Fear The Darkness by Alexandra Ivy

Title: Fear the Darkness
Author: Alexandra Ivy

Description: The Guardians of Eternity are embroiled in an epic battle for survival. They are as dangerous as they are sensual—and their lustful appetites are legendary...

Her Visions Lead Her To Danger

Beautiful Cassandra is a Were, a prophet both vulnerable and defiant, blessed with visions that portend the fate of the world. A rare and delicate creature, Cassie must be protected at all costs. Enter Caine, a powerful cur turned pureblooded Were whose recent tangles with a demon lord have left him in serious need of redemption. Caine is duty-bound to keep Cassie out of danger—and that means resisting his potent urge to seduce her.

And Only He Can Save Her

As Cassie's mysterious visions lead them in and out of danger, Caine believes he has found his true mate, the woman with whom he is bound for all eternity. Cassie is both charmed and frightened by Caine's magnetism, and unsure if he—or her feelings for him—can be trusted. But Cassie can't afford to doubt Cain now. A deadly enemy bent on destruction is closer than they realize—and only they can keep chaos from ruling the world.

My Thoughts: How I love Alexandra Ivy's “Guardians of Eternity” series. This is book 9 in one of my most beloved series to read. If you have not checked out the entire series, you may want to pick it up.

“Fear the Darkness” is Cassie and Caine’s book. Cassie is the prophet, one to be protected above all. She has been a captive of the dark lord until, in an act of unselfishness, Caine, the bad guy cur turned swoon-worthy pureblood Were, gave his life to protect her. This act is how he becomes a pureblood.

After not dying, he does everything he can to protect Cassie while trying to fight the attraction between them. The dark lord will do anything to get out of the trap of the undergrounds and has big plans to succeed. With war a possibility and needing to keep the human race from the knowledge of their existence, the Guardians unite to form a front protecting everyone from Hell on Earth.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved how naïve Cassie teased, never taking herself too seriously, and showed her strength when needed. Caine, was a guy I loved to dislike. In this book, I did a reverse. I found him strong and fiercely protective, yet tender and gentle with Cassie. Theirs is a low simmering passion from the beginning of the book that turns into a few hot flash scenes.

I will say a majority of the story was focused on the dark lord more so than anything. You also get to see quite a bit of your favorite characters from the past, plus get introduced to a new guy. That being said, do I think these things took away from the book? No, not really. I think it's Ivy's master plan to keep us on the edge of our seats. I know I am already anxious for the next installment.

This book was jam packed with romance, (even if it's not as much as normal), action, and some great battles. Ivy has reeled me in, hooking me back into the “Guardians of Eternity” series. I know in the last book I wanted more Levet... some things never change. We got more of that loveable gargoyle and I still wanted even more of him. “Guardians of Eternity” should be read as a series or you may get a bit lost in “Fear the Darkness“, so start at the beginning. Alexandra Ivy has been one of my favorite authors and keeps producing winners in this series.
